{"id":119,"date":"2026-08-31T16:01:44","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T16:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wirthink.org\/?p=119"},"modified":"2026-08-31T16:01:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T16:01:45","slug":"whats-in-a-name-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wirthink.org\/?p=119","title":{"rendered":"WHAT\u2019S IN A NAME?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My great-grandfather fought for the Union during the Civil War and dedicated much of his life to veteran\u2019s causes.\u00a0 I was always troubled by the honor given to General Lee and the other military members who violated their oaths and fought for the Confederates yet had military installations named in their honor.\u00a0 I was pleased to find a few years ago that a commission had been formed to correct this injustice by re-naming various forts, bases and camps. Unfortunately, this effort has been erased by the Trump administration. Together with pardoning the traitors from the January 6<sup>th<\/sup> riots, we are seeing a pattern of rewarding traitors and ignoring patriots.\u00a0 Now there is a rumor that the USS Doris Miller, a Navy carrier now under construction and named for a WWII Naval hero will be re-named for Donald Trump a documented coward.
