I never thought I\u2019d still be alive<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But, early this month I turned eighty-five<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My mind still functions but the body\u2019s a curse<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I hope the conditions don\u2019t get any worse<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have arthritis, diabetes, AFIB and gout<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neuropathy limits where I walk about<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I begin each day with a shot and some pills<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All intended to control these various ills<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My sinuses drip, I am incontinent<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s hard to stay dry at both ends<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My daily support is not heaven sent<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s boxes of Kleenex and bales of Depends<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My joints are all stiff but my manhood is flaccid<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sound like I gargle with battery acid<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sleep every night with the help of CPAP<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But can\u2019t get through day without at least one nap<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I will keep going and living this life<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the help of my children and a long-suffering wife<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These years aren\u2019t that golden but I cherish each day<\/p>\n\n\n\n
